COVID-19 Precautions

We value the wellbeing of our patients and your safety and health is a priority for us, which is why we are working hard to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This new coronavirus, which is causing COVID-19, is a big concern and we want to reassure our patients that we are taking all precautions and are implementing the procedures that are being recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Before you even enter an examining room, the surfaces will all have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

In addition, any items that are non-disposable will be sterilized and cleaned in between patients. Any items that are disposable, such as needles or certain tools, are always thrown away and are never reused. Other precautions that we are taking include having staff wearing the appropriate protective clothing, including masks, gloves, and eyewear, as it is necessary. After the medical staff has worn the gloves or masks for a patient, they are disposed of before seeing a new patient. Also before seeing the next patient, all medical staff washes their hands before putting on the new protective clothing.

COVID-19
We completely understand the concern about the coronavirus that is causing COVID-19. We want to reassure our patients that we are taking all necessary steps and precautions to prevent the spread of this virus. We ask you to please reschedule your appointment if you are ill and are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

If you or someone you have been in close contact with has recently traveled to a country that is suffering a large COVID-19 outbreak, including China, South Korea, Italy or Iran, or if you know you have been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with the virus or who is quarantined, please wait two weeks before scheduling an appointment with your physician, as a precaution in case you have caught the coronavirus.

There is no need to cancel your appointment if you are healthy and you have not been exposed to someone who has the virus.

Most people who have become infected with the coronavirus have suffered from flu-like symptoms and have then recovered. The majority of those who have been infected do not develop serious respiratory problems.

The population who are most at risk of developing complications and becoming very ill are the elderly and people who have other serious medical conditions, such as diabetes and kidney disease. So far, children have not been largely affected by the virus.

There are some measures that you can take to keep yourself healthy and to keep those around you healthy as well. These include:
  • Frequent hand washing, or using a hand sanitizer that has at least 60% ethyl alcohol
  • Sneeze into your elbow and cover your cough with your elbow
  • Stay home if you are feeling ill, have flu-like symptoms or have a fever
  • Avoid touching your face
